Too Easy

Watch yourself, lest you forget the Lord. —Deuteronomy 6:12

We don’t want to forget God. But if we don’t watch ourselves and make a conscience effort, we will. Make sure he’s a part of your everyday activities.

Search for Him

"But from there you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find Him if you search for Him with all your heart and all your soul." - Deuteronomy 4:29

The “there” is the location of Israel’s exile – Babylon. Through Moses, God is warning them early about the results of its idolatry. However, God is faithful and will be with those who turn their hearts back to Him, He says. God always has a plan – always. And his plan serves and rewards those who search for Him. Do you?

Wealth's Source

“Otherwise, you may say in your heart, ‘My power and the strength of my hand made me this wealth.’ But you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who is giving you power to make wealth, that He may confirm His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.” – Deuteronomy 8:17-18

Moses is teaching Israel not to be proud of itself for something God has done for them. Whatever the purpose of God is for you, He provides for your needs. To take pride in it is sinful; instead, acknowledge the real Source for all that you have.

Prayer Request

"But from there you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find Him if you search for Him with all your heart and all your soul." - Deuteronomy 4:29

Addressed to Israel while in the desert, “there” is the Promised Land. As a religious nation, this promise still applies to them and gives us cause to pray for their return to Him. Pray for the spiritual Israel.

How to Receive God's Blessing

…I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in His ways and to keep His commandments and His statutes and His judgments, that you may live and multiply, and that the LORD your God may bless you in the land where you are entering to possess it. - Deuteronomy 30:16

For Israel to be blessed upon entering the Promised Land, God required only one covenantal promise on its part. Israel – the nation – had to obey. Though now He deals with individuals, not a nation, God still honors those who obey Him. I would even venture to say when you obey, God will surely bless. If you are not experiencing blessings, first ask “Am I obeying God?”

With All Your Heart

You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. - Deuteronomy 6:5

How knit with God’s heart is yours? With your whole being as He commands? Today, work at loving Him even more than you have in the past.
