Point Fingers
In pointing out these things to the brethren, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, constantly nourished on the words of the faith and of the sound doctrine which you have been following. - 1 Timothy 4:6
In the context of course "these things" refers to those just mentioned who do not teach the truth. But in the boarder sense anything unbiblical may be included. Paul is telling Timothy that by teaching correctly he himself will remain sound in faith and doctrine and strengthened for the task ahead.
I just spent a week at camp leading a staff of counselors and teaching thirty-seven 9 through 11 year old campers. I think I'm recruited for my leadership skills but I enjoy more the teaching responsibility. In order to teach well one must know the topic by having studied well. It's the constant studying that keeps us sharp and focused, nourished and faithful.
