He who despises his neighbor sins, but blessed is he who is kind to the needy. - Proverbs 14:21, NIV
Most often, a person’s lot in life is not of his or her own doing, but God’s. Whether my neighbor is poor, has an infirmity, or an irritating personality is not usually going to be his or her fault. It is unjust and wicked to despise him for what is not his fault, but his misfortune—God’s will. Be careful how you even think of such people.
