Seeing the people, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and dispirited like sheep without a shepherd. -Matthew 9:36
Jesus’ compassion – driven by His love for them – caused Him to act many times by healing or providing for them (like the feeding of the 5,000). But here He uses it to command His disciples (you) to action, specifically evangelism when He next says, “Then He said to His disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest" (37-38). The greatest need of every man is salvation. Are you a worker to meet that need?
Have a blessed day.
