By this we know that
we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. 14 We have
seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son to be the Savior of the
world. 15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him,
and he in God. – 1 John 4:13-15
The confession here cannot be an agreement with the fact
that all Christians are His adopted sons and heirs; it must be with the unique
sense that Jesus is the son of God. He is personally divine and shares fully every
attribute of God. Earlier (4:2) a true Christian would confess Jesus’ humanity;
here John requires you to confess He is also truly divine. Done that? If yes, God
abides in you and you in Him.
