But when they saw Him
walking on the sea, they supposed that it was a ghost, and cried out; for they
all saw Him and were terrified. But immediately He spoke with them and said to
them, "Take courage; it is I, do not be
afraid." - Mark 6:49-50
“No man walks on water so it must be a ghost/spirit,” they
collectively surmised. Jesus moves right away to calm them by saying (literally
translated) “I am,” or “I exist.” The word itself, which He has used before in
their presence, and the clam tone of His voice have an instant affect. Ever
wondered what you’d do in the immediate presence of the Savior? I have. And I
almost can’t wait to be there with Him. In the meantime, I have a job to do for
Him. And so do you.
