May those who wait for You not be ashamed through me, O Lord GOD of hosts; May those who seek You not be dishonored through me, O God of Israel. -Psalms 69:6
The writer begs that his behavior not shame or dishonor others who believe in God. He knows that he is a sinner and subject to failure and that sin will bring shame to fellow believers and God. How much will your sin embarrass family, friends, and other believers? If that thought deters you from sin, consider it an act of the Holy Spirit – perhaps it is your “way out” (1Cor 10:13).
