Religion

Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world. -James 1:27

Religion is equated with the need for a “pure and unblemished” sacrifice (Ex 12:19). He describes three characteristics: the bridled tongue (yesterday in v. 26), care for orphans and widows, and keeping unstained by the system worldly people live by. We are always called to a higher, purer lifestyle. I have prayed that you will avoid the worldliness you encounter each day.
