"May the LORD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the congregation, who will go out and come in before them, and who will lead them out and bring them in, so that the congregation of the LORD will not be like sheep which have no shepherd." - Numbers 27:16-17
Moses has just been reminded that he will not enter the promised land because of his disobedience. Yet his concern before the Lord is that the people would not be left without a strong leader that he knows the nation needs. (Recall that after Joshua’s death the nation falls apart in the period of Judges because there is no national leader.) Be concerned about the current and future leaders of nations in this world. They need our prayers and to see their roles from a godly perspective. He made them who they are. Pray they will acknowledge the Mighty God of Moses and Joshua.
