Peter later commands church elders to “shepherd the flock of God that is among you” (1Pe 5:2). Who is your Shepherd? It is unfortunately possible to follow a “shepherd” who is leading his flock astray and is really a snake (from money, fame, or even alcohol – anything we substitute for God – to the likes of Harold Camping). There is only one Good Shepherd; follow Him.
