Adjusting Theology

Jesus “was delivered over because of our transgressions, and was raised because of our justification.”
 -Romans 4:25 (NASB)

In the hymn “One Day” the chorus reads:
    Living, He loved me; dying, He saved me;
    Buried, He carried my sins far away;
    Rising, He justified freely forever;
    One day He’s coming—O glorious day!

That third line always confounded me since I could not find proof in Scriptures. I’ve even said publicly “the line is good poetry but bad theology.” But over the years, as I’m certain with every Christian, my theology has changed becoming more and more conformed to God’s Word. One of more recent revelations is that both the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ are necessary for forgiveness of sins and justification. The Holy Spirit did His work when I read today’s verse while preaching through Romans. How about you? Do your beliefs conform to the Word of God?
