Faith-hearing

So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ. (Romans 19:17, NASB)

Paul’s argument about salvation in Romans chapter 10 so far is summed up here in this verse. To come to faith one must hear the Gospel. Starting in about sixth grade (11 or 12 years old) I knew there was more to my religion than I was then aware of–looking back I know the Holy Spirit was beginning His work. Twenty-four years later, Easter 1984, I heard the “word of Christ”—the Gospel—clearly spoken for the first time. A year later, came my faith in Christ. Spend some time remembering steps God used to bring you to faith in Christ then pray a prayer of thanksgiving to Him for the people He used.
