So those who received his (Peter’s) word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls. --Acts 2:41
By "receive" here Luke implies not only acceptance, but also belief because that is what was necessary (Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved… Acts 16:31). That belief inspired an immediate statement of faith – baptism. Three thousand that day. The rapid early growth of the church was also testimony to the truth of the resurrection we celebrated yesterday. They believed Jesus rose from the dead. Pray for the skeptics today. Pray for their salvation.
